Hello! My name is Sarah and I am the human behind Marcellus Photo Etc.
I’m a Graphic Designer, and Photographer.
My picture-taking career began when I was a little girl playing with my mom’s old 110mm camera. Most of my pictures back then featured my thumb in the corner, but I like to think I’ve come a long way since then! I took my first photography class with Ms. Purdy at Morrisville-Eaton Middle/High School, immediately signed up for a follow-up course the next semester, and decided right then that I wanted to be a Graphic Designer when I grew up. I went on to major in Visual Communications: Advertising & Graphic Design at Cazenovia College and earned my BFA.
I spent 12 years working full-time at the SUNY Morrisville Auxiliary Corporation (MAC) as their Graphic Designer turned Communications & Marketing Coordinator. I loved the variety of work I got to do there, handling everything from print design, food photography, and copywriting to managing digital assets and marketing campaigns across campus.
In the summer of 2026 I started a new professional adventure as a Graphic Designer with the team at C&D Advertising, in Rome, NY. I am incredibly excited to bring my decade-plus of design, branding, and layout experience into the agency world, collaborating with a fantastic internal creative team and building cohesive visual systems for a diverse mix of clients. And I am especially excited to contribute to Buy Madison, one of their clients with whom I participate as a registered business (Marcellus Photo Etc).
Alongside my agency work, I still run Marcellus Photo Etc., which I started back in 2012. I began by offering family photos to friends and family, and I now provide family photos and senior portraits to individuals, as well as corporate brand photography and graphic design to local small businesses. My commercial photography has even been featured in five published editorial spreads with Cole Publishing.
When I’m not working, I love movies, books, board games, and corny jokes. I have one husband, three kids, and a mini-zoo of two dogs, four cats, four fish, and two snails. We love spending our family time together at the lake, playing board games, sitting around campfires, or exploring local zoos and arcades!
